Sian Ka’an is the largest protected area in the Mexican
Caribbean (approximately 1.3 million acres) and is
considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The
biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves
and marshes, as well as a large marine section
intersected by a barrier reef. "Sian Ka’an" is translated
from Mayan as "where the sky is born" or "gift from the
sky".
Your day full of wonder and adventure.
1. Pick up at your hotel around 7:00 am, if in Playa
del Carmen. For any other location, our representative
will give the pick up time at the moment of reservation.
2. The tour departs from Playa del Carmen at 7:30
am, towards Tulum where there will be a stop to use the
rest room facilities.
3. At the entrance of Sian Kaan, located 3 kilometers
south of Tulum, everybody gets out of the transportation
to listen to the information provide by our tour guides;
this briefing contains general information of Sian Ka'an
and the tour itinerary. At this point all passengers must
pay the entrance fee of 21 pesos (about US $ 1.60) in
order to get a bracelet needed in case of inspection. This
fee will be paid directly at the office located at this point.
4. After this stop the way goes trough a dirt road for
about 30 miles. The arrival point is at the fisherman's
village of Punta Allen.
5. When the caravan arrives to Punta Allen, small
fisherman’s boats will be waiting for our group at the
restaurant, which is right next to the beach - they will be
offering you a snack as well as soft drinks.
6. The restaurant is located by the beach and
provides showers and rest rooms facilities. Before
boarding the boats, we'll take the food order (SEAFOOD
PAELLA, FISH fillet,CHICKEN FAJITAS,VEGETARIAN
MENU); so, while the boat trip goes on, the cooks have
the time to prepare everything fresh. By the arrival time,
our food will be ready. The meal includes some white
wine in addition to the soft drinks.
7. For the boat trip we'll divide the group according
to maritime regulation which is a maximum of 7
passengers per boat plus the guide.
8. The first place to visit once everybody is aboard is
a beautiful spot called “NATURAL POOL”. The
description of the place goes beyond its name. Here the
bottom of the sea is white and fine sand, and the water is
as clear as glass. It's a perfect place for everybody to
swim and relax. Here you can really get amazing pictures!
9. Next we'll get into the boats and travel for about
20 minutes until we'll arrive to a zone called “CAYO
CULEBRAS”. Here we'll found the “BIRD ISLAND”,
where we'll search for dolphins, manatees, turtles, sea
stars. And sometimes we'll see other unexpected
animals, too!
10. At the Bird Island you will have the chance to see
and get some pictures of beautiful pelicans, cormorant,
white ibis, spoonbill, fish heating hawk and many more
other birds.
11. When this activity is over, we'll travel towards the
reef to enjoy a magnificent snorkeling for about 45
minutes. This is one of the most beautiful and colorful
reefs of the area, full of different types of fish, such as
lobsters and barracudas. It is mandatory for all
passengers to wear life jackets.
12. Once this activity is done, we'll be hungry, so
we'll head to the restaurant where delicious food will be
waiting for you.
13. Before departure there will be some free time to
get the last pictures at the beach.
14. Once we'll arrive to Playa del Carmen all
passengers will be dropped off at their respective hotels.
